The Australian 'NOTICE OF INTENDED MARRIAGE FORM' (NOIM) is available from any Court House in Australia, Australian Embassies, or may be downloaded here.
As your Celebrant, I am required to view your NOIM no later than one month and one day before the date of your marriage. The NOIM is only valid for 18 months.
Only one signature is required as a witness. Other witnesses can sign in my presence up to one hour before the Ceremony.

Australian Marriage Requirements

The NOIM must be signed by both parties who are intending to marry, and this must be witnessed by either:
* An Authorised Marriage Celebrant
* A Commissioner for Declarations
* An Australian Justice of the Peace
* An Australian Barrister or Solicitor
* An Australian legally qualified Medical Practitioner
* A Member of the Australian Federal Police
* A Member of a Police Force of a State or Territory of Australia

The completed NOIM documents must be accompanied with:
* Birth Certificate - The entire document must be shown in full and if born in Australia must be produced. An extract is acceptable. If born overseas, a resident of Australia and unable to produce a Birth Certificate, I must sight a Passport, (an out of date one is acceptable), and a Statutory Declaration must be signed in my presence as to the reason why there is no Birth Certificate.
* Divorce Documents - If you have been married before, then I am required to view official proof of divorce documents.
* Death Certificates - If you are widowed, then I am required to view the original death certificate.
* Change of Name - If you have changed your name, then I am required to view the origianl documents.


International Marriage Requirements

The NOIM can be signed by one or both parties who are intending to marry, and this must be witnessed by either:
* An Australian Embassy Official
* An Australian Consular Official
* A Notary Public
The Official must stamp the document and date it. Only one signature is required.

The completed NOIM documents must be accompanied with:
* Birth Certificate - If born overseas, a resident of Australia and unable to produce a Birth Certificate, I must sight a Passport, an out of date one is acceptable, and a Statutory Declaration must be signed in my presence as to the reason why there is no Birth Certificate.
* Passport - If a visitor to Australia and not an Australian citizen, I will need to view your current passport.
* Divorce Documents - If you have been married before, then I am required to view official proof of divorce documents.
* Death Certificates - If you are widowed, then I am required to view the original death certificate.
* Change of Name - If you have changed your name, then I am required to view the original documents.

If any of your official documents are not in English, then they will need to be officially translated, then authorized by a person who is a legally recognized translator. I will need to see both the Original and translated Documents.

Witnesses

At least two witnesses over 18 years of age are required on the day of the ceremony for witnessing and signing the Marriage Register. Witnesses can be anyone, from anywhere, however, they must be able to speak and understand English.
